Before I start this writeup, permit me to ask you two questions:
- What is the best Disney movie of all time?
- Who is the greatest footballer of all time?
Whatever your answer is, keep it in your mind for now and we’ll revisit it soon. Now to the juice!
Imran made a post about how person go just see you for street dey call you your brand name😂
Apparently someone saw him and asked, “are you OVIT?”
OVIT, being the name of his Laptops For Techies brand
And it led to a conversation where he asked my take on people calling your brand name instead of your name
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: Lol I don’t correct people
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: Whatever you call me
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: As long as it’s what you can remember
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: We move
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: Some people probably call me Scenthut
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: And it’s not even my brand💀
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: But if it’ll make you order again
[15/12, 16:34] Greg Uzo: Like, save my number, remember us, and keep ordering
[15/12, 16:35] Greg Uzo: Ah, please o, continue
Now, How Does This Relate To The GOAT Debate?
Contrary to what most people might say
Your brand is not what you do
It’s not your brand elements coming together etc
Your brand is who people say you are
The impression people have of you
It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes…
So you can’t really “create” your brand
You can only do you
Then people will be the ones to say who you are
Based on their own individual experiences of you (or your brand)
That’s why there’s no best Disney movie of all time
Or best footballer of all time
Because it will always be subjective.
For example, is the greatest painting of all time the Mona Lisa?…
Or is it the painting given to a daughter by her father on his deathbed
And so it is a futile effort to try to be the best designer or design agency in the world
Because you can’t truly be the best “anything” in the world
It is a more worthy use of your time to attempt to be the best in SOMEONE’S world
Hence a better use of your company’s resources to serve the ONE CUSTOMER you’re interacting with at every given point
And curate the best possible experience for that customer
With the hope that you’ll have a shot at being that customer’s personal best.
This message is so golden and well communicated
Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽

I know right! I don’t think WordPress has that, unfortunately
I never saw this blog post coming out that conversation we had earlier. Those points are valid and I’m glad they made it here for others to learn from.
Thank you for the mention too 😊
I know right! I never saw it too. Over the months we’ve had a lot of insightful conversations that I’m grateful for. Thank you for that.
Greg, there is so much I have learnt from this and it is so we’ll written.

Hehe…thank you!
I like the way you linked different ideas to form a powerful lesson— which is focusing on improving your brand to be the best in someone’s world.
More grace to your elbow boss
That’s it man! Being the best in someone’s world. Thank you
The writer of this article doesnt either follow football, just wants clicks or is a Ronaldo fan boy, liking a footballer is subjective, but when you’re presented facts and all facts points to a certain conclusion, and u choose to ignore it and write a 500 word article to beat around the Bush it says alot about you.
Well we settle the goat debate after the world cup finals, SHALOM.
Well, one man’s meat is another man’s poison. Thank you for taking the time to read.
