Why There Will Never Be A GOAT – No Matter What Happens

Before I start this writeup, permit me to ask you two questions:

  1. What is the best Disney movie of all time?
  2. Who is the greatest footballer of all time?

Whatever your answer is, keep it in your mind for now and we’ll revisit it soon. Now to the juice!

Apparently someone saw him and asked, “are you OVIT?”

OVIT, being the name of his Laptops For Techies brand

And it led to a conversation where he asked my take on people calling your brand name instead of your name

Whatever you call me is fine, as long as it keeps my brand top of mind and makes you remember to continue buying from us.

Now, How Does This Relate To The GOAT Debate?

Contrary to what most people might say

Your brand is not what you do

It’s not your brand elements coming together etc

Your brand is who people say you are

The impression people have of you

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes…

I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel

So you can’t really “create” your brand

You can only do you

Then people will be the ones to say who you are

Based on their own individual experiences of you (or your brand)

That’s why there’s no best Disney movie of all time

Or best footballer of all time

Because it will always be subjective.

For example, is the greatest painting of all time the Mona Lisa?…

Or is it the painting given to a daughter by her father on his deathbed

And so it is a futile effort to try to be the best designer or design agency in the world

Because you can’t truly be the best “anything” in the world

It is a more worthy use of your time to attempt to be the best in SOMEONE’S world

Hence a better use of your company’s resources to serve the ONE CUSTOMER you’re interacting with at every given point

And curate the best possible experience for that customer

With the hope that you’ll have a shot at being that customer’s personal best.

The writer of this article doesnt either follow football, just wants clicks or is a Ronaldo fan boy, liking a footballer is subjective, but when you’re presented facts and all facts points to a certain conclusion, and u choose to ignore it and write a 500 word article to beat around the Bush it says alot about you.
